is Anime anyways? |
Anime vs. Manga So we know that Anime is in simple terms "Japanese cartoons" so what's Manga? Manga means roughly "Japanese comics" because the term's actual meaning is something else but we'll use it to compare with anime. Anime usually originates from manga also.
Comics in the western world where we live like Spiderman, X-Men, etc can also be termed manga in their own terms. The major difference is, is that Japanese manga tends to have a more complex character development and deep storyline. Western comics usually have the good guy vs. bad guy plot with a romantic scenario in between. Otherwise, by reading manga, the reader becomes engulfed in a rich plotline and can put the reader in the shoes of the manga character, thus putting themselves into a world of fantasy and growing with the character . Audiences for american comics are targeted to the younger male reader while there are many different types to cover a range of audiences. ~Pam_
